Seekae +DOME Album Launch Woodland bar (groove magazine)

Upon arriving at Woodland tonight, the venue had the same atmosphere and vibe of anticipation as with last week's 'Eat Skull' show. While the crowd are evidently different to the crowd that Eat Skull produced, Woodland is alive with anticipation as instrumental electronic group, Seekae are here showcasing the brilliant work that is their latest album, +DOME.
I ventured up to the front of the stage and rested my drink on a thing that I thought was a piece of the stage but as the DJ in between acts was busting out his blend of 'party' tunes I began to notice my drink dancing around on said box. It turned out to be a large sub woofer that, coupled with the one on the other side of the stage, literally made the ground shake. It was at that moment that I knew that I was in for a show tonight!
An abundance of effects pedals and electronic gadgetry littered the stage as apart of Sydneysiders, Ghoul's show tonight. Performing as a three piece tonight (we were informed that the group's bass player {Pavle Vizntin} was unable to make it due to 'girlfriend issues') we are treated to a solid performance. Having released mini-album 'Dunks' only a few months before, a lot of tonight's show is extracted from that. Vocalist Ivan Vizintin's voice was undoubtedly intriguing and the guitar/keyboard work of Anthony Warwick was exceptional, but what really stood out for me tonight was the back line supplied by the groups drummer Andrew Hannaford. It was a true highlight to see and it really drove the band. Next time you see Ghoul you must check out his stick work, Mercy!
On the odd occasion things were not as tight as they should have been but nonetheless, this was a solid performance by a band who are quickly becoming known for the talents they possess.
After being in a bar line for some 45 minutes, there was not a doubt in my mind that the two (occasionally 3) members of tonight's bar staff were overwhelmed and I should have bought my resume along with me… (from what I can tell they get paid well too!). While I am still waiting and becoming more and more worried of missing tonight's headliners, the inevitable happens and Seekae start. Luckily the bar line got fed up and left so my obstructed view in between people's shoulders was only temporary.
